Applying Laminate Sheets

Plastic laminate comes in sheets normally measuring 49 or 60 inches 124 5 or 152 4 cm by 12 feet 3 7 m but can be purchased cut to size for your project to minimize waste.

Liquid contact cement is the best adhesive for bonding plastic laminate. Apply a thin even coating of cement to both the substrate and the laminate using a foam paint roller. On a workbench or other surface so you can apply the glue. Apply two coats to particleboard.

Starting at one end of the sheet remove the first wood strip or dowel and use a j roller to press the new sheet down onto the counter bonding the two pieces together. You will want to be very careful to keep the plywood and laminate clean after you begin to apply the glue.
